After unloading Iverson this offseason which in my opinion is addition by subtraction and with Rasheed Wallace departing for Boston, the Pistons shook up their roster by bringing in two relatively young guns in superscorer Ben Gordon and versatile big Charlie Villenueva. I think that the Pistons will be fine offensively and I am quite surprised at Rip Hamilton's prowess as a playmaker and passer, Rodney Stuckey is a solid young guard. But if the Pistons hope to achieve any kind of success this year as a team their journey starts on the defensive side of the ball. Once known and feared league wide for a staunch and stifling defense that dethroned the Shaq and Kobe era for the Lakers, the Pistons' defense has fallen off in recent years, most notably due to the absence of Ben Wallace who was their anchor in Detroit's shocking 04 NBA title win. Well Big Ben is back but his bag of tricks may not be as age and injuries have diminished his once unstoppable defensive prowess. I think the Pistons have some potential to make noise in the East this year, they just have to bring their D game.
